Monaco will have a familiar look to Bundesliga fans, with former Borussia Mönchengladbach boss Adi Hütter now their manager, and Breel Embolo (most recently of Gladbach), Kevin Volland (Bayer Leverkusen) and Ismail Jakobs (Cologne) under his charge at the Stade Louis II. Of those, Volland is perhaps the most likely to start, with Embolo injured. Philipp Köhn, once of Leipzig, looks likeliest to backstop the team having signed from Red Bull Salzburg this summer. Bayern Munich vs Monaco pick: Bayern Munich to win Last season, Bayern Munich had a turbulent period when Thomas Tuchel took over the team. The Bavarians were eliminated from the Champions League, Cup and lost some league games during that period. Still, when they overcame that rough period, we saw them dominating Bundesliga teams once again, winning five of the final six games and stealing the title.
This year we expect them to have a good start as they kept their core players. On the other hand, Monaco had an awful end of the season, which cost them Europe. Subjectively, their biggest problem was their poor defense. They allowed 58 goals, which was only the 14th-best in Ligue 1. Now, with recent transfers, we think they got even worse in that department, and it is unreal they can hold well against such a potent offensive team as Bayern. During the preseason, we think Bayern Munich were a lot better team of the two. They won three of four matches, losing only to the last year's Champions League winners - Manchester City, while Monaco won just three of seven matches.
